‘Words are not enough to express my appreciation’ – Governor Amosun reacts to NASS return
Governor Ibikunle Amosun has expressed his gratitude to the residents of Ogun Central Senatorial District following his triumph at the polls.
The governor was declared winner by INEC’s returning officer, Professor Ayinde Akanbi on Monday morning after gathering 88,110 votes to win one of the three senatorial tickets in the state.
At the end of his governorship tenure on May 29, Governor Amosun will return to the Senate chamber in the National Assembly – a seat he once occupied in 2003 – and he has taken time out commend the citizens of the Ogun State for their support on Saturday and throughout his eight-year tenure.
“Words are not enough to express my deep appreciation to the good people of Ogun Central Senatorial District for their uncommon display of loyalty and commitment to my senatorial election of Saturday 23rd February 2019,” Governor Amosun said.
“I am overwhelmed by your continued support. In year 2003, you gave me a mandate to represent you at the Senate and you have by this election renewed this mandate.
“I pledge to effectively and efficiently represent you in the 9th Senate. I also want to thank all the good people of Ogun State for the support given to my administration in the governance of Ogun State.
“It is also pertinent to commend you for the overwhelming votes given to President Muhammadu Buhari in the just concluded Presidential election.”
The 61-year-old also lauded security operatives for a job well done in Saturday’s polls.
“On behalf of Mr. President, I say a big thank you. I also wish to put on record the peaceful conduct of the election by INEC and the excellent security arrangement by the security agencies in Ogun State to all the security agencies Army, Navy, DSS, and most especially the Nigerian Police and other paramilitary agencies. I say well done.
“To the entire good people of Ogun State I say thank you and God bless.”
