Vice-President Osinbajo commissions railway wagon plant in Ogun State
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo commissioned the railway wagon assembly plant at Kajola in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State on Saturday.
According to the Guardian, the development followed an agreement signed in March 2018 by the Federal Government and Chinese rail contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), to produce rolling stock, wagon, spare parts and maintenance equipment needed for the various railway projects of the federal government across the country.
During the official ground-breaking ceremony, Osinbajo said that the plant would stem growth and huge development across the country, citing the current administration’s commitment to prioritising Nigerians and Nigerian businesses in the production and procurement of engineering projects and services.
Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi in his remarks, affirmed the new project will create 5,000 jobs and also boost the nation’s economy.
