Tragedy averted as fully-loaded petrol tanker overturns in Ogun State
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Sango-Ota unit disclosed that an unfortunate incident which would have resulted in a tragedy was averted on Saturday as a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) overturned at Lombardy Area in Oju-Ore.
The FRSC Sango-Ota Unit Commander, Mr. Akeem Ganiyu, confirmed that the incident happened around 6:45 pm to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and he also commended the prompt response of the state Fire Service, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) and the police to the situation.
“The truck with no registration number was trying to avoid a bad portion of the road when it suddenly overturned and started spilling its content,’’ Ganiyu was quoted by The Guardian.
“The mishap that would have befallen the people of Lombardy area, near Oju-Ore and its environs, was averted by the personnel of state Fire Services, FRSC, TRACE and the Nigerian Police.’’
