Suspected internet fraudsters arrested for gang-raping in Ijebu-Ode
The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspected internet fraudsters for allegedly gang-raping an 18-year-old girl in Ijebu-Ode.
The rape incident happened in Ilese last weekend when the victim was blocked by the young men who rode in a Lexus ES 350 car and she was forcefully moved to Rasanwa area where they took tooks to rape her.
Immediately after the tragic experience, the lady went to report at Ilese Divisional Police Headquarters in Ijebu-Ode which led to the arrests of Tunde Taiwo – 22; Damilola Adesina – 20; and Adegoke Amos – 21.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident after he was briefed by the Divisional Police Officer, Ilese Division, Yakubu Bala who disclosed the initial arrest of one suspect which led to the capture of his colleagues.
Oyeyemi said; “The arrested one led the police to the other two, and they were subsequently arrested.
“On interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime and claimed to have believed that the police were no longer working, hence they could do anything they liked, but they were surprised when the police came after them.”
Meanwhile, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the three suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
