Primary school teacher arrested for kidnapping ex-pupil in Ogun State
A primary school teacher, Samson Odugbesan has been arrrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping his former pupil, Rasaq Akeeb.
The mother of the victim, Fatimat Akeeb was said to have reported the case of her missing child at the Ajuwon divisional headquarters in Akute, in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police spokesman, the victim’s mother said she received a call from an unknown number demanding N200,000 for the release of her son.
“She stated further that the caller told her that the boy was brought to him by somebody and he would not release him until the said amount was paid,” Oyeyemi said per Punch.
“Upon the report, the DPO Ajuwon division, SP Andrew Akinseye, directed detectives to embark on technical and intelligence-based investigation, which led to the discovery of the suspect’s hideout.”
Oyeyemi explained that detectives lured the suspect out with part payment of the ransom and subsequently apprehended him.
Upon interrogation,the suspect confessed to committing the crime, but blamed it on the devil.
In reaction, the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun, ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
