Ogun State shut down 12 companies over environmental pollution
Ogun State Government have sealed up 12 companies in Ogijo, Sagamu Local Government Area over environmental pollution.
The Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abiodun Abudu-Balogun confirmed the action saying most of the companies sealed up were involved in metal smelting which is not in any way, environmental friendly.
He disclosed that the companies involved would not be opened until they’ve shown the government their roadmap to ending pollution.
Audu-Balogun further explained that no government would fold its arms and watch companies pollute the environment, no matter the size and employment opportunities to the people.
He therefore urged existing and prospective companies to ensure their activities are environmental friendly and make environmental safety their watchword, as the Dapo Abiodun-led administration will not be able to tolerate environmental pollution and other environmental infractions.
