Ogun State Police arrests herdsmen for robbing and raping 16-year-old girl in Ewekoro
Two suspects, Abu Adamu and Muhammadu Aliyu have been arrested by officers of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly robbing a family and raping their 16-year-old daughter.
The two suspects who are said to be herdsmen reportedly invaded a farm settlement at Afowowa Gbelu village in Ewekoro, where they attacked one Aminat Okeshola’s family and made away with N140,000 cash.
The herdsmen reportedly took a 16-year-old daughter of the family to the cassava plantation and took turns to rape her. They were, however, arrested following a distress call received by the police at Ewekoro Divisional Headquarters at about 1am.
Upon receiving the call, policemen from Ewekoro division went to the farm settlement, searched the entire area and arrested two of the suspects who had taken refuge in a nearby bush at the sight of the policemen. The third suspect with them reportedly fled.
“The two arrested suspects were immediately identified by the victims,” the Police Spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi said according to Daily Post.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the herdsmen have always been passing through the farm settlement with their cattle in the day time before they came back to strike on the fateful day.”
