Ogun State Police arrests 21-year-old man for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl
A 21-year-old man identified as Julius Afuape, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in Ayetoro, Ogun State.
The suspect who lives in the same neighborhood with the victim was said to have raped her in her aunt’s bedroom while the aunt was away at work.
According to Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspect was arrested following a report by the victim’s aunt at Aiyetoro Divisional Police headquarters. The aunt came back from work around 3:45 pm on Wednesday, only to find out that her niece had been sexually abused by the suspect.
Afuwape reportedly got into the victim’s apartment by lying that the aunt sent him to service her power generator. The suspect seized the opportunity to forcefully raped the 13-year-old girl and fled the scene of the incident immediately.
“However, the DPO of Ayetoro division, CSP Mobolaji Jimoh launched a manhunt for him and he was arrested on Friday at his hideout,” Oyeyemi said according to DailyPost.
“He has made a confessional statement admitting that he actually committed the crime.”
