Ogun State Police arrest fake lawyer in Ifo
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a man parading himself as a lawyer in Ajuwon, Ifo Local Government Area.
The suspect was arrested following a petition written by a legal practitioner to the Divisional Police Officer in Ajuwon Police station.
According to a statement given by the Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the legal practitioner reported that the suspect had been parading himself as a lawyer, and extorting money from unsuspecting victims.
“He has never been to law school anywhere and therefore not qualified to be addressed as a lawyer talk less of practising the legal profession,” Oyeyemi said according to Channels Tv.
“Upon the petition, the DPO Ajuwon division, Andrew Akinseye and his team of detectives embarked on a painstaking intelligence investigation about the self-acclaimed lawyer.
“In the process of their investigation, they came across a woman who was charged to court for an offence but was duped by the suspect who collected about N300,000 from her to perfect her bail conditions, but he never showed up in the court.
“The suspect confessed that he gained admission to study law at Ekiti State University but did not finish the course and did not attend the Law school.”
The Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
