Ogun State High Court sentences man to 25 years imprisonment for raping 11-year-old girl in Mowe
A 36-year-old man, Ugochukwu Obiakor, has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment or raping an 11-year- old girl in Mowe community of Ogun State.
The convict who was sentenced at the Ogun State High Court in Abeokuta, committed the offence on September 4, 2017, at Omu- Aleku Village in Mowe.
According to Premium Times, the convict raped the girl near her mother’s shop. The prosecution counsel, James Mafe, who is Director of Legal Drafting, explained to the court how the convict deceived the girl that her mother was owing him and asked him to come back for the debt. Immediately she opened the door, he dragged her into an uncompleted building beside the shop and raped her.
The result of a medical examination on the girl shows that her hymen was indeed broken and she suffered vagina laceration.
Obiakor’s offence contravenes Section 32 of the Child Right laws of Ogun 2006, therefore the Judge, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu found the convict guilty as charged.
