Ogun State Government reopens schools and grants automatic promotion to students
Governor Dapo Abiodun has announced that all schools in Ogun State reopen and resume school activities on Monday, September 21, 2020.
According to the Governor’s chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, public schools across the state are to resume activities for the first term of 2020/2021 session in a fortnight.
Automatic placement has been granted for primary 6 students in public primary schools into JSS1 of public secondary schools.
Adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines, schools hours are staggered for public schools. Pupils in Primary 1 to 3 will be in school from 8am to 11am; while those in Primary 4 to 6 will be in classes from 12 noon to 3pm. It is also staggered in that manner for junior and senior secondary school students.
Technical and Vocational institutions will operate their normal school hours of 8am to 2pm, while Early Child Care Development and Education classes for infants from 3 to 5 years of age will not be resuming in public schools until the next phase of schools reopening.
“Tertiary institutions are allowed to commence reopening from September 21 as may be determined by their respective management,” the circular read.
