Ogun State First Lady, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun advises women on breast cancer
Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun has advised women to routinely submit themselves to breast and cervical screening as a timely diagnosis has been identified as the first step to the treatment of cancer.
Mrs. Abiodun made the statement during the flag-off of free breast and cervical cancer screening and treatment, organised by her office and the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Ogun State Chapter, at the Primary Health Care Center, Imeko.
She stressed the importance to always be conscious of any sign on their body and go for regular checkups, saying, ‘’early detection will assist in early treatment’’.
Mr. Segun Ogunjobi, the head of administration at Imeko Local Government Area, identified lack of awareness as the major cause of death among children and women suffering from cancer earlier in his welcome address and also urged the women to take full advantage of the program, do a regular examination and gracefully thanked the first lady for being kind enough to bring such exercise to their domain.
The State President, MWAN, Dr. Bolanle Adefuye, recognised and noted that women are the pillars of homes and their health remained paramount. She, however, commended the efforts of Mrs. Abiodun at ensuring the wellbeing of the womenfolk in the State.
The Onimeko of Imeko, His Royal Majesty, Oba Benjamin Alabi Olanite, was also thankful and showed his appreciation to the Governor, whose support and love for the people of Imeko-Afon has been tremendous. He also pledged his people’s support for his administration.
