Ogun State Education Ministry defends ₦7.81bn budget for 2021
Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu has defended the ministry’s ₦7.81 billion budget for the 2021 fiscal year before the House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation.
Prof. Arigbabu said the financial plan includes capital expenditure of ₦5.2bn and a recurrent expenditure of ₦2.4bn while revenue target of ₦1.14bn is expected.
He further stated that ₦930 million has been earmarked for educational programmes which comprise bursary/scholarships, West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Unified Examinations, National Business and Technical Examinations (NABTEB), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), the establishment of multilingual resource centre and provision of modern equipment amongst others.
The former Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education also disclosed that 260 classrooms will be built across the state with 140 units of three blocks classrooms, 120 units of two blocks classrooms and eight workshops/science laboratories.
Also in attendance during the budget defence, were the management of Ogun State College of Health Technology, Tai Solarin University of Education, Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo and Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu with their budgets.
