Ogun State Court sentences man to prison for stealing water tank in Ota
A 28-year-old man identified as Akintunde Segun, has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment for stealing a water tank in the premises of a Magistrates Court in Ota, Ogun State.
According to Sahara Reporters, the convict committed the offence on July 30 at about 12:35am within the court premises. The tank he stole belonged to the Nigerian Bar Association and is valued at around N50,000.
The prosecution counsel, Titi Olatoye, told the court that the convict was arrested and taken to a police station after he could not give satisfactory answers as to where he was taking the tank to.
He pleaded guilty to his one count charge of theft and was sentenced to one year in prison without an option of fine.
According to Olatoye, the offence contravened the provisions of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
