Areke, Bara, Owode Egba and the Alamala military barracks in Ogun State have been provided with easy access to clean and safe drinking water in commemoration of the 2019 World Water Day.

World Water Day is an annual celebration marked on every March 22 to highlight importance of freshwater by the United Nations and this year’s theme is ‘Leaving no one behind’

In its quest to improve livelihoods in a state that houses its main factory in Agbara Estate, Nestle Nigeria embarked on a CSV [Creating Shared Value] to enhance the quality of life and contribute to healthier future of residents.

Accroding to reports, 7,500 residents will benefit from the gesture spread across the four areas.

“We recognise and respect the fact that water is a fundamental human right,” CEO of Nestle Nigeria, Mr. Mauricio Alarcon was quoted by Vanguard.

“Everyone has the right to water, no matter where they are. Individuals and families need water for drinking, personal and household hygiene, laundry and cooking amongst other needs.

“In line with Nestle’s purpose of enhancing the quality of life and contributing to a healthier future, we work alongside other stakeholders to provide access to clean safe drinking water to those who live closest to our operations.

“As we reflect on the theme for World Water Day, we reiterate our commitment to improving livelihoods in our communities.”
