Ifo Local Government officials sanctioned for brutal assault on woman
The Transition Chairman of Ifo Local Government, Hon. Fola Salami has confirmed the arrest of the government official who hit a woman in the face because she defied the total lockdown directive for weekends.
Over a fortnight ago, the Ogun State Government ordered the total lockdown of the state on Saturdays and Sundays to contain the spread of coronavirus and in ensuring compliance, the Ifo Local Government set up a task force committee.
Unaware of the directive, a woman named Tolu Adesh left her home for shopping in a supermarket at Justrite Stores in Ojodu, but she was stopped by the Local Government taskforce officials who deflated her car tyres and demanded a fine of N15,000.
While trying to protest for her rights, Adesh was beaten by one of the officials but she gallantly captured the bizarre moments in a video that has gone viral on social media.

In reaction to the inhumane treatment by the government officials, the Transition Chairman of Ifo Local Government disclosed that all officials involved in the incident have been suspended indefinitely without pay.
“The attention of the Office of the Transition Chairman, Ifo Local Government, Ogun State has been called to a viral video that suggests a case of assault on a lady at Ojodu Abiodun Area of the Local Government,” the statement read.
“It came as a rude shock to me, when I saw the video of one of our officials enforcing the lockdown order with gross inhumane attitude. His attitude does not portray the humane nature popularly preached by Ifo local Government.
“On this note, I am suspending all officials involved without pay, until further notice. Rest assured, the public should be aware that all hands are on deck on this issue and whoever is found guilty will be dealt with decisively. Meanwhile, as at the time of this release, the primary official involved has been arrested.”
