Governor Dapo Abiodun extends total lockdown in Ogun State for a third time
For the third time, Governor Dapo Abiodun has extended the total lockdown in Ogun State by another week as the fight against coronavirus pandemic continues.
Governor Abiodun gave the update during a press briefing on Friday night and he also announced the commencement of the next phase of palliative for struggling households across the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari initially ordered a total lockdown in Ogun State, Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory in March, but he lifted the suspension on May 4 with the gradual easing of the lockdown.
However, the Gateway State has been extending her total lockdown by a week since May 8 to curtail the spread of Covid-19 with Friday’s announcement being the third time.
Since the announcement of the index case in February, Ogun State has confirmed 183 cases of the virus as of Thursday with 104 people on admission in the isolation and treatment centres while 73 recovered patients have been discharged and six deaths recorded.
