Governor Abiodun approves new fire stations in Ifo and Obafemi-Owode LGAs
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the construction of new standard fire stations in two Local Government Areas in fulfillment of his electoral promises.
Governor Abiodun authorised the construction of two new fire stations in Ifo Local Government, and another one at Isheri North in Obafemi/Owode Local Government while inspecting new fire trucks bought for the State Fire Service in Abeokuta.
He further disclosed that a comprehensive rehabilitation will be done on existing fire stations that are no longer habitable across the state. He also noted that apart from ordering for the new fire trucks, the existing firetrucks had also been refurbished.
“I have approved the construction of two fire stations in Ifo Local government; I have approved for a new fire station in Isheri North, which is Obafemi Owode area and we are relocating one that is somewhere around Mowe-Ibafo so that it is more visible and we are rebuilding it,” he said.
“This is one of the fire trucks that we have ordered. It is in line with our electoral promise to our people.
“What we have done to date is to take stock of the existing fire stations across the length and breath of the state.
“You need to have seen the current state of those fire stations. I am not sure those fire stations have seen any form of rehabilitation since they were built; they are unbefitting.”
