FRSC calls for caution on Lagos-Abeokuta highway
The Sector Commander of the Federal Safety Commission [FRSC] Clement Oladele has advised motorists plying the Lagos-Abeokuta highway to be careful amid the ongoing rehabilitation work of the road.
The Federal Executive Council in April 2018 approved the revised contract for the construction of the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta expressway to the tune of N56.70 billion but the project has dragged causing daily traffic congestion.
And Oladele, aware of the challenges faced by road users, assured of there is hope and the road safety commission will continue to act as an intermediary between contracted handlers Julius Berger Nigeria Plc and the people.
“With the ongoing rehabilitation, there is now hope that when the project is completed, the hiccups associated with using the corridor would soon fizzle out as soon as the project is delivered,” Oladele was quoted by Vanguard.
“On our part, the FRSC will continue to interface with the construction firm to provide adequate signage that conforms to the relevant UN conventions which Nigeria recently acceded to for purpose of highway safety.”
