Coronavirus: Nigerian Baptist Convention, Wema Bank support Ogun State Food Bank
The Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) and Wema Bank Plc have donated food items to Ogun State Government as support in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
National President of NBC and the President, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Revd (Dr) Samson Ayokunle, handed over the food items at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
“The items were 25 bags of 50kg bags of rice; 40 bags of 10kg semovita; 20 cartons of groundnut oil; 10 bags of beans and 100 tubers of yam. This is our token of love for support to your government,” NBC representative said.
Meanwhile, Wema Bank Zonal Business Manager Abeokuta, Dele Adefemi, delivered food items to government officials at the food bank in Ikenne, as part of the bank’s collaboration with the state government’s fight against Covid-19.
The food items donated by Wema Bank include 3,000 bags of 5kg rice, 250 cartons of vegetable oil and 1,100 cartons of noodles.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Olatokunbo Talabi, received the items from NBC and Wema bank and promised to share it to those that need them the most.
“These items were received on behalf of the underprivileged and challenged people in the state. This kind of gesture gives hope to the people that all irrespective of who you are all in this together. Most of the time, it is not how large the donation is, but the intent”, Talabi said per Tribune
“I want to thank you on behalf of His Excellency, and promise you that every gift that we received on behalf of the underprivileged is going to be accounted for. Every gift that we have received is going to be judiciously distributed without fear or favour.”
