Coronavirus: Lockdown continues till May 9 in Ogun State- Governor Abiodun
The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun has declared that the COVID-19 lockdown in the state will now end on May 9.
Governor Abiodun disclosed this at a press conference held in his office at Okemosan, Abeokuta.
In reaction to President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to relax COVID-19 lockdown from May 3 in Ogun, Lagos and Abuja, Governor Abiodun said the extension for Ogun State will end on Sunday, 9th May, that is, taking into consideration the initial one week of grace granted to Ogun State by the President.
“It is necessary I do this, as we will begin to ease our relaxation windows on Monday 4th May, we will observe relaxation windows on Monday,4th May; Wednesday, 6th May; and Friday, 8th May.”
“However, the frame will be between 7am and 5pm, and curfew will be enforced from 8pm to 6am.”
“All educational institutions remain closed, while students enjoy free access to our televised DigiClass. However, the Head of Service will be issuing a circular in respect to resumption of duty of 30% of civil servants.”
“Please let’s continue to take good caution as we use these windows. We sadly now have 56 confirmed cases, with 8 discharged. This indicates our increased testing capacity- a result of our stationed and mobile molecular laboratories, drive through and walk-in testing centre, and community testing centres.”
